Georgia-Pacific is of a handful of wood-using companies in the world that doesn't own any timberland. The Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS) organization ensures that the company's mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips to sustain its tissue, packaging, paper and building products manufacturing operations.
More than 300 employees are part of the W&FS organization that provides expert timber valuations, as well as environmental and forest management assistance to landowners. W&FS operates in some 15 U.S. states, and sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional or individual landowners. A very small percentage of Georgia-Pacific's wood supply comes from state or federally owned lands.
