Georgia-Pacific Announces New High-Efficiency Wet Strength Resin
Amres 25-HP Demonstrates Specified Wet Strength Performance with 15 - 25% Less Resin

ATLANTA, Georgia. September 21, 2000 -- The paper chemicals group of Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. (GPRI) has added a distinctive new high-efficiency resin to its Amres wet strength resin product line. The innovative new product, Amres 25-HP, allows the paper maker to obtain specified wet strength performance while using 15 - 25% less resin. Alternatively, Amres 25-HP can be used at the paper makers’ current levels to dramatically enhance wet strength performance. GPRI wet strength product manager Scott Barnhard noted that Amres 25-HP also demonstrates reduced defoamer consumption, improved press felt cleanliness, and lower reportable volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). According to Bob McDonald, GPRI paper chemicals business manager, the new product is in line with the group’s strategy of developing innovative performance chemicals to better serve the paper making industry. "We developed Amres 25-HP because we understand that while performance is crucial to our customers, cost-effectiveness is equally vital. Our new product effectively addresses both needs," said McDonald.
